Online Shopping In The UK

June 28th, 2008

Computers have been in use in the United Kingdom for as long as they have been used in other parts of the world but online shopping is still not the phenomenon that it is in the United States, where more than half of the population has shopped online. This is not to say that Britons do not shop online, just that they don’t use online shopping quite as much. They still prefer to shop in shops on the high street and have some tea afterwards or go to outdoor markets for fish and produce. Still, the convenience of online shopping has its allure and there are a number of attractive purveyors of all sorts of goods who will deliver the goods, so to speak, for orders placed online.

However, there are several department stores online, they range form the elegant and traditional Marks and Spencer’s to Tesco - a budget priced merchandiser of most things, especially household goods and electronics. Marks and Spencer’s has a full line of Women’s, men’s and children’s clothes and traditional but quality designs. They offer free shipping on orders over 39 pounds. Marks and Spencer also has a grocery with fresh and hard to find produce and top quality poultry, meat and seafood. It offers a range of prepared foods marketed under their own Marks and Spencer’s brand. Remember Brigit Jones? Marks and Spencer’s gourmet line has a variety of upscale, utterly delectable, well prepared high quality take out items that are also available online. Just as with Brigit, Marks and Spencer’s addiction could be your friend in times of need and your ultimate downfall as the high caloric content and high prices take their toll.

Kelkoo is on online shopping super site that is popular not only in the United Kingdom but also throughout Europe. Our site offers everything from clothing and house wares, to travel and hotel reservations. Kelkoo UK offers a comparison shopping and a search engine to help the consumer find the right item at the best price. The Kelkoo offers a feature where users may list their own items for sale. There is a small consignment fee for this service that is levied upon each sale. Another must have feature on Kelkoo is that you can pre order Harry Potter books before they hit the market.

Here are enough online merchants in the UK to satisfy every shopper’s need. Electronics, computers, books, house and garden retailers are all to be found a click away. Apple not only has an online store in the UK, it features a source of refurbished machines that are certified and available at lower prices, Dell, Hewlett Packard, Toshiba and the usual cast of computer characters are all available online. Bay has, of course, colonised UK online shopping and it operates under the same terms as in the U>S>

The consumer has access to an unlimited number of online retailers in the UK and just has to enter the item in his browser to pull up all the retailers. Orders are placed and filled in much the same way as in the US but shipping tends to be higher. Visa MasterCard and Paypal are all accepted forms of payment.

Shopping: Be Wary

June 28th, 2008

You may not get what you expect!

Retailing has become very competitive in recent years and too many corporations, including some large retail chains, are using trickery and deception in marketing. Misleading advertisements, displays and labeling, and other sly tactics are too common. Beating the competitor and the consumer, preferably within the limits of the law, seems to be a retail marketing trend.

There are many ways: Store displays that attempt to sell items that appear to be on sale but aren’t. Switch and bait selling. Marketing to kids. The use of shock to increase ratings and sales. Encouraging credit, gouging those that can’t afford exorbitant charges when interest rates are at 45-50 year lows.

Then there is the small print, hidden charges, planned over-consumption, self awarded awards, junk mail, telemarketing, loud repetitive commercials, stupidity cards.

Working within the law or self styled guidelines is not good enough, retailers must use strategies that are morally good. An old retailing axiom used to be ‘The customer is always right’. From what I have perceived, ‘The customer is always ripe for picking’ often seems more appropriate.

Unfortunately it does not help a great deal to complain to the corporations as the processes are deeply rooted and are not there by accident. ‘We aren’t breaking any laws’, or ‘We strictly conform to guidelines set out by our association’, are typical responses I have received.

But we must complain, to governments, consumer associations and everyone who will listen, or we will be unable to blame anyone when all truth is gone from the marketplace.

Shopping Online: What You Should Know

June 15th, 2008

For some people, shopping online is as normal as driving a car. It’s become part of the norm. For others, the prospect of making internet purchases is a scary one. Here are a few tips to make your online shopping experience more rewarding.

Research the company or business that is selling to you:

- Look for a phone number and address; all legitimate businesses will have one.

- Understand the return policies, in case you’re not happy with the product you receive.

- Ask questions. If the company has quality service, they’ll have the answers for you.

Research the product or service you are buying:

- When shopping online, you don’t get the benefit of picking it up the product and taking a good look at it. You may want to just use the internet for your research and later see if you can find it in a local store . But the internet also allows you to search for the best deals. So, in this sense, you may choose to use the local store to put you at ease about the product, and purchase it online to get the best price.

- Look for reviews of the product. Get unbiased opinions from consumers or consumer advocates who have experience with the product.

- Beware added taxes, fees, shipping, and handling costs. Sure, you may have found a great price, but make sure you’re still getting one when all is said and done. Buying out of state or province could save you in taxes, but it might cost you in shipping. Check it out first.

- Allow for adequate delivery time, especially if you’re buying a gift or purchasing around the holidays.

Look for a secure website when purchasing:

- Secure sites will have a URL that starts with “https” instead of “http”. This means your confidential information (like your credit card number) will be protected with a security certificate.

- Look for a little yellow lock on the status bar at the bottom of your web browser. Double-click it to get information about the certificate that is protecting the site.

Be prepared:
- Keep a record of your purchase. Get an order number, confirmation number, or receipt and keep it handy, even after you receive the item. Treat it the same as an in-store purchase.

- If you run into a problem, don’t give up. Contact the online merchant. Most reputable companies will want to make sure you are a happy customer.

Online Shopping

June 10th, 2008

The idea of online shopping has created a major interest among net users. It is simply buying and paying through internet anytime and anywhere. You can purchase almost anything online and need not bother others. You can purchase clothes, cars, computers, groceries, books, machineries etc. along with real estates. Generally, the transactions are done through credit cards only. However, there are some sites, which offer cash on delivery. Though online shopping is easier and cheaper as they often offer discounts, yet you could be in trouble at times. Have you ever given yourself the chance to think that?
Do you choose a secured and safe site for your shopping?
Are you sure your transaction is safe?
Are you using a certified site?
We want to make your shopping safe and secured, thus, please go through the following facts once.
Are you using a secure browser?
The browser you are using should abide by the industry security
standards. There are Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Secure Electronic Transaction (SET). These systems encrypt the purchase information you send over the net. Safe sites show the symbol of an unbroken key, a picture of a closed lock or a web address started with https://.
Remember the letter “S” after http is very important. Along with that, most of the browsers also display a warning message before you click to send any information to a site.

Go for Certificate check:
It is also easy to verify a secure site with a “certificate”.
Presently Verisign,Inc. is a provider of Public Key Infrastructure(PKI). This company has formed long-term partnerships with a large number of other companies. You can check out www.verisign.com for further information.

Do not reveal your very personal information unless required:
Always try not to send your password anywhere if you do not know the receiver. It is even secured to use a combination of numbers, letters and symbols in your password instead of using birth dates, phone numbers etc.

Always pay with a credit card or charge card:
Online shopping is done by credit card or charge card in order to make the procedure easy. If you pay with a credit card or charge card, your transaction will be protected by the Fair Credit Building Act.
According to the law, consumers have every right to dispute the charges against certain situations.
It is always better to invest small amount while buying online for the first time. Try them a couple of times and then go for more investments. Using one card only for online shopping will make your life much comfortable. Do not forget to keep hard copies of your purchase order and confirmation number.

Think twice before filling up a form online:
In maximum websites, you need to register yourself in order to buy things. This form is sometimes very risky as with just a click of your mouse all your information could be sent to anywhere. If you are sending any private information then it’s better to think twice.
Generally the sites want to know whether you are new to online
shopping or what kind of products you are interested in etc. but
sometime they ask for your e-mail id, password, mailing address and phone number.
Ask yourself before pouring out all such information:
1) Are they at all required?
2) Should I trust the owners of the site?
3) What about the site’s privacy policy?
4) Is it a secure site at all?
5) What my friends/ relatives/ colleagues feel about this site?

After giving yourself proper and satisfactory replies, you can go forward.

Even after having a thorough knowledge about the site, if
unfortunately you come across some problems there are agencies, which could help you.

1) The Publication Analyzing Internet Information (PM 1789b)
2) Iowans can contact the Iowa Attorney General’s Office at (515)

3) Federal Trade Commission at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menu-internet.htm
4) National Fraud Information Center at http://www.fraud.org
5) Call for Action, Inc. at http://www.callforaction.org/
6) Consumer Information Center at http://www.pueble.gsa.gov/
Shopping online is definitely enjoyable and interesting. Your online shops are open for 24 hours a day under any circumstances. It gives you the pleasure and comfort to buy with just a few clicks on your mouse. You can go for research before buying a product, such as can check out the price range, utility, others’ opinion and many more things. As everything has its good and bad sides, online shopping is not an exceptional case. Sometime you might have to pay more as the price includes shipping charges and other delivery options. Even it takes time to open up pages where you could be able to see the products.
Along with all the pros and cons, online shopping is just “in”.
Maximum people prefer getting things delivered at their doorstep even if they have to pay more. However, before ordering anything online, think and try these out. If you feel secured, go ahead and happy shopping!

Ecommerce: Shopping For A Shopping Solution

June 10th, 2008

The specifics of ecommerce can require a learning curve that many are reluctant to tackle. Perhaps that’s why many brick and mortar stores have not entered the world of online marketing.

It is possible to look at ecommerce and consider the things you might need and lose heart. You take a look at some of the items you need such as site design, hosting, shopping cart, autoresponders, search engine registration and a laundry list of other services and you wonder how in the world you are going to come up with a way to make it work. This is especially true for those who are just happy if they can figure out how to open their email account.

Because not everyone is adept at the specifics of ecommerce, sites that customize a package for their customers are a boon to many entering the world of ecommerce.

Don Fortner, a Direct Marketer describes a one-stop ecommerce solution, “You can really have it all. I was quickly able to build a fully functional commercial web site using the easy-to-use templates with slide shows, image maps, fully functional search engine, Pay Pal shopping cart and more! Highly Recommended.”

According to High Power Sites you can find a, “solution that affordably allows anyone with even the lowest level of Internet experience to make their own professional ecommerce website.”

These solutions are feature-rich in design and function and manage the very specific needs you may have in a user-friendly interface. Those who use these one-stop ecommerce solutions find they are able to successfully launch their website in a very short period of time.

Many online marketers have found that the integration of multiple technologies in one package provides a choice that gives them time to learn the skills of optimization. For some netrepreneurs this option becomes a long-term solution.

Dale McIntosh from AMJ Funding Group who uses an integrated ecommerce solution said, “My website pages are as good or better than some of my friends who are in the same type of business.”

When you follow the success stories of those who have added ecommerce to their brick and mortar store you will notice a growth pattern that is more than encouraging.

Perhaps the greatest advantage to an online store is it never closes. Automated function in a solid website design allows for transactions to occur at the discretion of your clients. The fulfillment of the orders can be taken care of when you or your staff is available. Those who utilize the web for purchases enjoy the control they have in making online purchases at times that are convenient to them. Ecommerce allows you to cater to that desire.

Shopping With Children

June 5th, 2008

Is you weekly shopping trip with the kids an absolute chore! or are you happy to take them along?

Lots of moms don’t have any choice in the matter, if they don’t own a car it can be sheer agony waiting at bus stops then struggling on and off buses with kids and a pushchair.

Gone are the days when a helping hand was offered, and if the bus is full, no gallant young man will jump up and offer his seat to the harassed mom.

Next step is the supermarket, a haven of joy to the youngsters. Low shelves full of goodies, long aisle, fantastic for kids to run up and down creating havock, even the most obedient child can’t resist the lure of this playground.

How often do you get home and find a few extras in your shopping bags that you hadn’t noticed going through the checkout, usually things that you might never use, or of course the odd bar of chocolate or packet of sweets.

If you are on a budget this can be very annoying as many families have to count their pennies.

Have you noticed how many supermarkets have these automated bob the builder cars and other amusements for kids, its a tug of war most times to drag them away, usually crying because you can’t afford the money it takes to let them go on.

Many large supermarkets have a creche or playroom, BUT if you have two or three kids the cost may be beyond you.

Wouldn’t it be great if they could forget about making money for a while and provide these commodities for free. Imagine how their sales would soar if moms and dads knew they could do kids free shopping at no extra cost, other supermarkets wouldn’t get a look in unless they followed suit.

Do those top dogs that sit back raking in the money realise that it is families that bring in their bacon. and if they just gave a thought to the harassed moms and what it would mean to them to have somewhere free to park their children whilst shopping, how much happier every one would be.

Even one or two days a week kids free shopping would a boon to many families.

Bliss, happy parents and happy kids.

Can a good deal really be found online? Is it safe to purchase online? Where are the best places to shop online? Keep reading for some tips to make your holiday shopping online a little easier.

Great deals on the net

Can a good deal be found online? Most definitely yes! Most large retailers have an online store and many run internet only specials, that translates into savings for you. Many stores are only found online as the cost to run an online store is less expensive than a brick and mortar store. Since these stores don’t have the high overhead they can provide some great deals that will only be found online. Price isn’t the only factor to consider when shopping for an item though. When searching for that special gift you will have a greater selection online and you won’t have to travel or beat the crowds. Instead of the local mall you can shop the world, all from the comfort of your own home. You are bound to find unique gifts online!

Shopping online is not only convenient it is safe when you follow a few simple rules.

5 Tips to Keep in Mind When Doing Your Christmas Holiday Shopping Online

1). Comparison shopping is a must, just like in regular stores. Don’t just think you are getting a good deal - know you are!

2). Know the shipping and handling costs before you make your purchase. Some stores may offer a great price only to make up for it with the shipping and handling charges. On the other hand, many stores offer free shipping!

3). Make sure the online store is reputable. Do they have a return policy and a privacy statement that you can live with? Do they offer secure purchases? You should only make online purchases through a site that offers secure purchases. Most sites that offer secure purchases will display it. For those that do not, look for the http: in the address bar to change to https: on the store’s shopping cart or the page where you put in your credit card number.

4). Make sure the online store includes complete contact information, including a phone number, e-mail address, and mailing address.

5). It’s best to make your online purchases with a credit card. A credit card offers you an extra level of protection in case something goes awry and the online store is not handling the situation to your satisfaction. Most credit card companies will reverse a charge if you dispute it for good reason and have tried to resolve the problem to no avail.

Holiday shopping can be stressful but by doing your Christmas holiday shopping online you can have an easier time of it. The World Wide Web offers many benefits to online Christmas shoppers such as, no lines, great deals and the widest variety of products. Go ahead, give it a try you may just be pleasantly surprised at how stress free your holiday shopping can be.

Online Shopping – Tips For Safe Shopping

June 5th, 2008

Online shopping is a gigantic industry, and with good reason, too. Few shopping methods offer more convenience, better prices, or better information access than shopping via the internet. However, it pays to follow a few precautions when shopping on the internet.

Secure Shopping

When ordering from an online site, one of the first things you should check is to see that their order page is secure. The page you enter your address and contact details on doesn’t need to be secure, but the page you enter your credit card on should be.

The easiest way to tell that a page is secure is that it will start with https. Also, in Internet Explorer, you’ll see a yellow padlock at the bottom of your browser window.

Reputable Merchant

You should also do at least a little research to ensure that the website you are ordering from is a reputable, dependable merchant. There are several ways to check on the reputability of a merchant:

Are they listed with the Better Business Bureau?
Are they members of any other third party verification entities?
Check their customer reviews on third party sites like http://Alexa.com, http://BizRate.com, and http://Shopzilla.com

If you’re purchasing from a seller on an online marketplace like Ebay or Amazon Marketplace, check their ratings and customer feedback. Most online marketplaces offer some kind of a guarantee against fraud for orders placed on their website.

Company policies

Also check on the companies policies before you order from them. You should check that they have at least some kind of a guarantee and return policy. Also, how quickly do they ship orders? What customer service do they offer? Do they have full contact info on their website, including their physical address and phone number?

With a little research, you can save some time and money by shopping online – and not worry about not getting your money’s worth!

Shopping In The UK

June 4th, 2008

London is the shopping capital of the U.K., you have Harrods, Regent Street, Saville Row for men’s tailor made suits and Mayfair.

Markets are a cheap way of shopping, lots of towns have them two or three times a week, you can buy all sorts at a market, from fruit and veg, to plants, bedding, towels, rugs, sweets, even batteries, tools and toys. Nottingham has a lace market, where you can buy lots of hand made fancy lace items. There are also farmers markets, where you can buy fresh produce and meat; these are mainly run as an auction. A lot of markets have good quality merchandise and are often cheaper than shops and can last a long time.

A lot of department stores are putting a few High Streets out of business, as they have all the shops you need under one roof, and with ample free parking, one example is the Metro Centre in Newcastle.

The town I live in is very oldie worldly, we have still got an old fashioned sweet shop, a butcher’s that dates back to 1805, we only have two supermarkets one in town and one on the outskirts. It relies on the tourist trade in the summer months. We have a fishmonger that’s only open in the summer; in the winter months it’s a fruit and veg shop. We have to go out of town if we want D.I.Y. supplies, but other than that we have nearly everything we need. It’s still a very traditional old town centre with cobblestones and narrow roads.

High street shopping is definitely being taken over by the Internet and mail order, as you can sit in the comfort of your own home, and browse at your leisure. It seems to be the little outlets that are suffering rather than the better-known stores. A lot of the better-known stores have Internet shopping and mail order catalogues, so they are pretty well covered.

You can even buy your groceries online as well and get them delivered to your door, which saves the hassle of queuing, there is a delivery charge for this.

Whichever way you look at it shopping is a necessity and the longer we can keep the High Streets going by supporting the smaller shops, the better it will be, not only for the shops themselves, but also for the community, as there will still be employment.

Grocery Shopping Cost Of Living Shopping Prices

June 1st, 2008

The cost of living has become painful. One trip to the gas station and grocery store will clearly put you in touch with this pain. As painful as the $4.00 per gallon for gas is, it represents less than 3.5 percent of the family budget. Their food purchase is almost 4 times as much in the family expenses coming in just under 13%.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, The Consumer Price Index for the past year indicates the five grocery items that rank at the top of the inflated price list that you are now paying at your supermarkets. Number One on the list is FLOUR, increased by 37%. Not only does this increase affect the bag of flour you purchase, but every item that is made using flour….breads, bakery goods, etc.

Number Two on the list is EGGS, increased by 34.8%. Again, this goes beyond just the dozen or two of eggs that you buy for your family. The bakery goods and breads are also affected. The third most inflated priced item at an increased rate of 29.2% is SWEET PEPPERS (green, red, yellow). The GOOD NEWS here is that peppers are one of the easiest plants to grow with very little work. I will address home gardening in the next newsletter for all your summer salad needs.

The fourth most increased inflated price goes to MILK. MILK is up by 23.1%. This is one the most essential purchases on the grocery list for a family of any size with growing children. Number 5 on the list, up by 21.6%, is DRIED BEANS. This may be the most insulting of all, because it represents the most basic and last resort for the poor to put something on the table for the family to eat. One of the other world’s basic food staples, RICE, has gone up by 10% in the last month alone. Costco and Wal-mart have recently limited the quantity of RICE that you can buy. Families will need a cost of living calculator to keep up with these flour prices, egg prices, and milk prices to figure out all the changing weekly grocery prices.

If you have visited our website and read the “BeSmart….ShopSmart….Shopping Tips”, you know that we want you to save 40% to 50% off your weekly grocery shopping trips, including meat and high priced items such as coffee or laundry detergent. Of course, this is possible when you use your store loyalty card, store and manufacturer coupons, and take advantage of the BUY 1 GET 1 FREE OFFERS. We are very concerned about your bottom line savings on your groceries with these inflationary increases on some of the most basic food staples.

Being a good “Scout” you need to “Be prepared”. First, study your local grocery circulars. Become price conscious as to what the marketplace is asking for these particular items as well as what your cupboard and refrigerator is lacking. Secondly, read the ad papers thoroughly to OPTIMIZE YOUR SAVINGS. For example, at a chain drug store, reading through their weekly circular….in smaller print that the rest….I discovered that if I bought the brand name skin lotion at the regular price, I would receive the same brand name liquid soap for FREE — $3.99 value.

Another discovered sale at Safeway/Dominic’s was getting FREE Safeway brand pasta (sale priced at a $1.00 per/box) when you purchased a 26 oz. jar of a brand named Spaghetti Sauce. The spaghetti sauce was reduced to a sale price of 3/$6.00….that’s just $2.00 a jar, and less the free pasta….becomes a $1.00 item. This becomes a $1.00 MEAL, and represents an overall savings of $3.25 per each box of pasta and jar of sauce. NOTE: PASTA is one of the most flexible items you can have in your pantry for making simple dishes quickly, or creating a great meal of leftovers. Whole grain pasta is recommended for people with diabetes.

Use the ad circulars to plan your meals when you shop. I have advocated planning your menu around the SALE ITEMS in their circulars. Make sure you mark out what day of the week their shopping advertisement begins and ends. Some start on Wednesday and end on the following Tuesday. Others begin on Thursday and end on the following Wednesday. You could miss out on a sale item of importance by not knowing this.

For example, in their sale circular a brand name roasting chicken was on sale for 69 cents/per lb. at the local grocery store. Unlike the major store chains, this local grocery store week begins on Wednesday, not Thursday. So, if you didn’t pay attention to this fact, and wanted to purchase the roasting chicken on Wednesday before the sale ended, it would have been TOO LATE. The new week began, the sale was over, and the price increased by 80 cents to $1.49 per/lb. The same 5-lb. Roasting Chicken went from $3.45 to $7.45 — a lost savings of $4.00 per a 5lb. Chicken. That’s ONE GALLON of GAS. PAY ATTENTION and SAVE!

Don’t let image fool you that you are going to get the BEST PRICE because a store is known for its LOW PRICES. A recent story of comparative shopping prices revealed the following prices for a gallon of Skim Milk

•$2.69 at Aldi (discount store)
• $2.99 at Costco (saving club/membership needed)
• $3.99 at a local supermarket
• $4.49 at Wal-Mart

Who would have thought that? That’s an image buster for Wal-Mart always low prices advertisements! And don’t forget about looking at your local drug store such as CVS or Walgreens for some of these grocery items. Recently I was able to purchase 2- 64oz. Walgreens Brand Orange Juice for $3.69 compared to other grocery store offers of 2/$5.00, and 2 dozen eggs for $3.00 ($1.50 per dozen) compared to $2.89 per dozen elsewhere.

When your comparative shopping list results in SAVINGS at different stores, the discussion of the cost of gas comes into play. Is it worth it??? I usually suggest you map out a circular trip to include as many of the stores as possible on your list. This way you can max out your SAVINGS by getting as many of the sales items as possible with one shopping trip. With a single stop to save $5.00 on a can of coffee, meat, laundry detergent, or ice cream you will have covered the cost of a gallon of gas for your vehicle.

I believe in buying in BULK when often used family products are on sale. If you have the capabilities, utilize your freezer. When shopping for Milk on Sale, search the back of the shelf for the latest possible expiration date. If you choose to freeze milk, remove 8-to-12 ounces to allow for expansion during the freezing process. You can also freeze eggs in freezer bags; just crack them open into the bag for later use in baking or for scramble eggs. AVOID waisting Money and Food…Rather than throw out eggs or milk that are about to expire make a cake or pudding.

For additional savings, investing in a bread machine would help cut the cost of bread and provide you with Fresh Homemade Healthy Bread daily per your creative ingredients. Put the ingredients in the bread machine and in a period of three-to-three and a half hours, FRESH BREAD for less than a $1.00 a loaf. The bread machine will pay for itself in a short time with current store bought bread prices.

One U.S. Agricultural Department study estimated that 25% of the food bought by consumers and restaurants is wasted or spoiled before it can be served. TV commercials advertise storage bags that will preserve the life of fruits and vegetables. If you are going to spend the high prices for your fruits and vegetables, then it might be wise to spend $10.00 for these reusable bags. They will pay for themselves over a short period of time compared to the price of lost/spoiled produce.

For your meat purchases, avoid paying for bones. At $10.00/lb. every pound of bones will cost you ten dollars for the throw away. Or, you might choose to wait until its on sale. Many dollars are saved by using your store loyalty card when it comes to your meat purchases. Buy Sale Price Meat in larger quantities, cut in portions, and FREEZE. Meat provides flexibility in one’s menu planning. First meal is hot, freshly cooked. Leftover portions can be served as cold as sandwiches, or cubed and added to a fresh salad. Any other cubed leftover meat can be added to soup. THAT’S FOUR MEALS from one piece of meat.

Speaking of soup, homemade or store bought, you don’t have to waste the crumbs from the bottom of the bag of chips, or Doritos (”breakage” in food industry language). Smash the remaining crumbs in the bag, and empty the crumbs on top of the soup when ready to serve for added flavor and fiber…no waste.

To eat healthier and save your time cooking, I recommend purchasing a Ronco “Showtime” Rotisserie. Put the meat on the spit or in the basket, set the timer, and let it cook away, allowing the fat to drip away. Place vegetables in steamer tray on top of the unit. When the timer goes off, take the meat out, and serve. This is a Very Nice MOTHER’S DAY GIFT that will KEEP ON GIVING. But remember: you’ll have to figure out what you want to do with your free time while everything is cooking. It can cook up to a 15 lb. turkey. I have had mine for over six years.

Again, read your grocery ad circular carefully. Try to take advantage of the first opening days’ “Sale Specials”. Some stores run specials within the store that will provide FREEBIES or MONEY BACK for your NEXT SHOPPING VISIT. Last month Safeway/Dominick’s had a $10.00 kick back for your next visit on a purchase of $30.00 or more of certain listed brand name products …that’s a 33% savings right there. Many of these items weren’t ON SALE. This week they have two $5.00 kick back offers, the first is instant at the check out counter, the second is for your next visit.

Lastly, keep your eyes open for offers to add to your Government Stimulus Checks or Tax Refund Checks by Grocery Stores or Department Stores.
